You may withdraw, though it pains us to lose a member of The Bound.

We require 30 days notice before your departure. If you notify us on the 15th day of January, your final parcel will arrive in February. This allows us to honor our commitments to the authors we champion and ensure no resources are wasted.

To cancel, send a raven to support@theboundsociety.co. The Society protects its own—including the authors we serve.

You may also choose to pause your membership if life pulls you away temporarily (see below for pause details).

Yes. Life happens. The Society understands.

You may pause your membership for one moon cycle at a time. However, you must notify us at least 7 days before your next billing date.

Important timing requirements:
• Pausing after you’ve been charged does not result in a refund
• Once your parcel has shipped, you cannot pause that cycle
• You must pause before your renewal date to avoid being charged

When paused, your gamification progress, house standing, and rank remain intact while you rest. Your place is held, and your membership will resume the following moon cycle.

However, please note: Frequent pausing may indicate a mismatch between your reading preferences and our curation. We believe in active engagement, not sporadic participation. If you find yourself pausing regularly, we may not be the right fit for your reading journey at this time.

The Society does not offer refunds on membership fees.

Exceptions:
• Lost or damaged parcels: We will replace at no cost with photographic evidence
• Billing errors: If you were charged incorrectly, we will refund the error
• Non-delivery: If your parcel never arrives (after carrier investigation), we will issue a replacement or refund

All membership sales are final. We encourage you to use the pause feature if you need temporary relief from monthly tribute rather than canceling.

Members who initiate chargebacks without contacting us first will be permanently removed from The Society and banned from future membership.

We rotate through romance, fantasy, and thriller with each passing moon. What matters is that every story resonates with your reading soul, regardless of its worldly classification.

Every month, all houses receive the same book. But that book speaks differently to each circle. It satisfies different hungers. It reveals different truths.

The houses rarely err. But we are not unreasonable.

Once per year, you may petition for a circle switch. Your points remain yours. Your artifacts stay in your collection. Only your allegiance changes.

But choose carefully. The houses have long memories, and they do not forget those who waver.

(We jest. Mostly. The houses are surprisingly forgiving. But the dramatic warning makes it more fun, doesn’t it?)

We exist to reveal indie authors hidden in plain sight—writers of extraordinary talent whom the masses have yet to discover. Their words rival (and often surpass) traditionally published works.

These are discoveries. Hidden gems. Books you’d never find on a bookstore shelf but will never forget once you read them.

We vet every author carefully. Every book is tested for writing quality, editing, and alignment with our houses. You’re not getting amateur hour. You’re getting the books traditional publishing overlooked.

Always. Reader safety is sacred to us.

Two weeks before your parcel ships, you’ll receive a raven (what mortals call “email”) containing:
• General content advisories (violence levels, sexual content, triggers)
• A portal to detailed warnings for those who need specifics
• Option to pause that month if the content troubles you

Each parcel also contains a physical warning card. You may set trigger preferences in your account, and we’ll reach out proactively if a book treads dangerous ground for your particular wounds.

We believe in informed choices, not unwelcome surprises.

We understand. Not every book speaks to every soul.

If warnings trouble you before your billing date, you may pause that month at no cost (see pause policy for timing requirements). Your membership simply extends forward.

If you’ve received a book that doesn’t resonate? We encourage you to pass it along to another reader who might treasure it. Perhaps offer it in our Discord community, where members often trade among themselves.

Our curation is careful, but we cannot predict every heart. We trust you’ll find magic in most months, even if not all.

The Bound Society is not passive consumption. It is active discovery.

Riddles will test your wit. Keys must be earned through observation and cleverness. Your rank within your house will rise as you prove your dedication. Exclusive rewards await those who seek them.

Additionally, one random member each month receives the Golden Key—granting access to our Inner Circle and a personal gift from that month’s author.

Within these chambers, the author themselves has left traces: private videos revealing their creative process, answers to questions never asked publicly, deleted passages too precious to share with the masses, curated soundscapes that inspired their work.

It is as though you have been granted private audience with the storyteller. These chambers exist nowhere else. Only members of The Bound may enter.

Every initiate begins as a Novice. From there, you ascend:

But if you prefer solitude? You’ll still receive your parcel, your author content (via encrypted message), and all physical treasures. Discord simply adds layers of connection most find irresistible once they enter.

A raven bearing tracking information reaches you when your parcel takes flight. The passage typically requires 5-7 days, though some territories may receive their treasures sooner.

Then comes the unsealing. The discovery. The beginning of that month’s adventure.

You may bestow initiation (3, 6, or 12 moons) upon another soul. They’ll receive a beautifully designed announcement revealing their acceptance into the Society.

Your membership renews on the same day each moon as your initiation. Five days before tribute is due, you will receive warning via raven (encrypted message), allowing time to pause or withdraw if circumstances require it.

We believe in transparency, not surprise charges lurking in shadows.

If your payment is declined, you have 5 days to update your payment information before your membership is suspended.

If we incur fees from failed payment attempts or chargebacks (typically $30 per occurrence), those fees will be added to your account and must be paid before your membership can resume.

The Society must protect its resources to serve all members. We ask that you keep your payment information current to avoid disruption.

Yes. Membership in The Bound Society requires you to be at least 18 years of age.
